Fall is almost here, yet it hasn’t really began to start feeling like Fall. Over the weekend we took our little Jellybean apple picking. When you think about apple picking, you think of Fall, plaid shirts, jeans, cute fall like boots, maybe a light scarf, but no it was 87 degrees out and our little lady was miserable. I think we could have handled the heat if it wasn’t for all the mosquitoes everywhere. Anyways, we had a good time.
We went to Royal Oak Orchard in Harvard, Illinois. They had a marvelous selection of apples and it was Honeycrisp weekend! (I know, even better) We loaded up Jellybean and took her on an adventure. By the time we got there the breeze was gone and the sun was out in full swing. We picked, and by we I mean my husband (someone decided she needed to eat by the time we got to the orchard) about 10-12 pounds of apples. I bet your wondering what does one do with all those apples well here is the first recipe of many.

Applesauce in a crockpot
(one of the easiest things you will ever make, plus then your home smells amazing)
- 9-11 medium apples cut off the core
- 1/2 cup water
- dash of cinnamon
Cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours. Use immersion blender or regular blender until you are satisfied with the consistency.
I stored my applesauce in mason jars for the fridge and ice cube trays in the freezer. The ice cube trays are one ounce servings, perfect for when Jellybean starts purees.
